Energy Monitors

In school, our year 5 and 6 pupils are Energy Monitors who check the classrooms at breaktimes and lunchtimes to see if lights and screens have been turned off if they have left the room. They let staff know how their team is doing and provide a report at the end of each week.

Work on Climate Change

Y5 and Y6 pupils have been working with OASES to explore our very own Wind Turbine—a fantastic opportunity to bring real-world learning into the classroom!

This hands-on experience links beautifully with our current Design & Technology topic on Mechanical Systems, where children have been investigating gears and pulleys. Seeing how these systems are used in a working wind turbine has helped bring their classroom learning to life in a meaningful and memorable way.

It also ties in with our Science topic on Electricity, where we’ll soon be exploring renewable energy sources. The wind turbine has sparked brilliant discussions about how electricity can be generated sustainably, and how we can all play a part in protecting our planet.

We’re incredibly proud of how engaged and curious our pupils have been—asking thoughtful questions and making connections across subjects. A huge thank you to OASES for helping us inspire the next generation of engineers and environmentalists!
