School-Led Tutoring is part of the National Tutoring Programme (NTP) in 2021/22. Eligible state-funded schools receive a ring-fenced grant to source their own tutoring provision for disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils who have missed the most education due to COVID-19.
Disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have resulted in significant missed education by pupils. Disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils have been particularly impacted. Tutoring is one of the most effective tools for helping pupils recover lost education and many pupils have already benefited this year from the NTP. In September 2021 the Government expanded the tutoring offer to include School-led Tuition. The Government will continue to provide a tuition offer into the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years.
DFE- School -Led Tutoring Guidance 2022
As part of the School-Led Tutoring programme Stanley Crook Primary School focused on the year 6 cohort as part of the academic catch-up. Two groups of 6 children were chosen to receive 15 hours tuition in a small focused group.
One groups focus was academic catch up and the second groups focus is, social and emotional development following the “Spark Resilience Programme” concentrating on specific learning targets.
Have a look at some parent feedback from mid way through the School Led Tutoring Progamme.
‘O’ has really benefited from tutoring as this has allowed her to become more confident within a group and also develop confidence in her maths skills. Thank you to Mrs Kyle – your amazing!
We are really pleased ‘C’ had the opportunity to take part in the tuition. It has given her extra help to catch up on missed learning due to Covid 19 and boost her confidence. Thank you!
Many thanks on providing the tuition programme for ‘N’. With the added guidance I feel she is emotionally more prepared for her SATs. Feedback from ‘N’ was always positive and I know she valued the extra support given. The sessions always seemed fun and she enjoyed spending time with her friends learning, thanks again!
Following parent consultations parents provided feedback on the impact of the programme on their child’s learning.
I am very happy with the School Led Tuition Programme, it has been very useful to ‘M’.
‘O’s school led tuition has given ‘O’ an opportunity to gain confidence in an environment where she feels comfortable. The sessions have had the added benefit of ‘O’ being with her friends, ‘O’ has thoroughly enjoyed these sessions and I’m very grateful for this opportunity for her.
